DIARY/JOURNAL

T

Teresa

I have Windows 2000 and Outlook Express but I want a
diary/journal/calender as I had with Windows 97 Office.
Surely EVERYBODY uses a diary of some sort - enough paper
ones are sold by Letts every year - why isn't it standard
on ANY Office system? I am trying resolve the problem and
the only software I can find is a calendar one which
enables you to print off your own calendar with your own
pictures and designs. This is NOT what I want. I have
now put the CD Microsoft Office 1997 on my computer as
well and I get the following message:

The Server containing the Global Address List is no longer
available. You can reconnect to a different server by
restarting Outlook or retry the operation when the Server
is reachable.

Well, I Restarted the computer - it didn't work.

It was asked for Microsoft Exchange Server at one point
but I don't know what that is or where to find it.

The only thing I know is that I reach the internet via
Tiscali.co.uk - is this the server name they want? And
trying to get info by emailing MS only results in being
told EVERY time to go and buy a software package - THEY
DON'T DO A DIARY/JOURNAL PACKAGE ON ITS OWN and I already
have Office on MS 1997 Office disk!

I don't know if this site is read by MS people or not or
whether its just a "user/friends" type site like "I used
to have that problem and I found.,........"

All I know is I am at my wit's end with MS - WHY CAN'T
THEY JUST SELL THINGS OFF THE SHELF - if you start looking
on the internet all you come up with are pages and pages
and pages of licence clauses - you obviously can't read
them and so you just say "YES" to everything - hoping you
will get what you want in the end!

Sorry to go off like this - especially if this is
a "usser/friends" type site.

Hope someone can help!

Teresa

PS why does it fill in Sender's email as anonymous@....
Should I be overtyping my own name and address there?

You might be looking for diary.exe for Outlook 97. I looked at this with
Outlook 2000 and it appeared to work, although I did not use it regularly,
which explains why I don't have it installed on my current OutlookXP. I just
searched the Microsoft Office Downloads and can't find it. Perhaps they
discontinued it. I do have a copy and will send it if you like, it's 192kb.

If you'd like to enhance Outlook with a diary program AND
a note taking functionality I recomment getting Franklin
Covey's Plan Plus for Microsoft Outlook. It is available
through the Franklin Covet website as well s their stores
and I believe through other select retailers.

If you use a Franklin paper Planner Plan Plus brings the
Franklin methodoligy to Outlook. It will let you
prioritize tasks, set up goals, weekly compass, keep a
daily record, take notes through Power Notes, and
everything else Outlook does. On one screen you can see
your schedule, tasks, daily record, and email or power
notes.

Plan Plus works great with Outlook 2003 as well!

BTW, I don't work for Franklin Covey, I just think the
product brings so much more to Outlook. Being a user of
the Franklin Planner for over 10 years now, this really
brings the familiarity of the paper planner to Outlook.
I think it is a must have for all Outlook users that use
Outlook for more than just email.

it sounds like you have Outlook 97 configured for exchange accounts, not an
internet account. You need and internet account setup and the IMEP addin

close outlook, go to control panel, mail applet. Delete the current profile
and create a new one choosing internet mail service, not exchange.

If you don't work for them, why are you posting this canned reply to every
possible message having to do with journal or diary?

I posted it once as a reply and once as a post, which
equals twice. I don't know wher you get the idea it
was "canned" since it was only posted twice one of which
was a reply to a question regarding a diary/journal. I
guess the that means only one other person out there had
a question regarding keeping a diary or journal.

Secondly, when I believe in a product I want to tell
people about it. Too many times on these newsgroups all
I hear is bitching and moaning.

I guess hearing something positive for a change was just
so shocking it was unbelievable.
