dialup with network connection

Using a cable modem for internet connection. When a
program opens, a dialup window opens, which has to be
manually cancelled. Program will then connect via cable
OK. Went to dialup properties, and checked box to never
dial connection. Works OK for that session, but when
winxp restarted, dialup connection box for automatic
dialup is checked. Any suggestions for keeping it off?

When using a DSL or cable modem, the connection should
not be set up as a Dial Up connection, but as a Local
Area Network connection. Delete the existing
connection.

1. Click on My Network Places.
2. Use the wizard to "Create a New Connection."
3. Select "Set up my connection manually", and
continue.
4. Select "Connect using a broadband connection that is
always on."

Follow the prompts to complete the configuration.
