I just recently purchased a windows xp home ed. pc and
upgraded to an XP PRO ver. my dialup connection worked
fine before and after the upgrade, just the other day I
turned on my pc and attempted to click on my shortcut on
the desktop to my ISP but nothing happened, I then went to
check my dialup and networking connection and dialup
didn't exist, there wasn't even an option to add a new
connection. I went further into add/remove components
check to see if i could remove and reinstalled the dialup
connection services which didn't exist. what could you do
to help me. As far as service packs and updates I know
i'm behind, I know my pc doesn't have WINXP SP1. thanks
much.

Hi Nicholas,

This recently happened to me and it is a registry problem.
I have the solution at home (on XP machine). Pro adds two
new keys and these have to be deleted. Once they are
deleted your existing connection will now magically re-
appear.

If you goto HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SYsTEM\Current Control
Set\Rasman\PPP\EAP

and remove keys 25 & 26. This cured my problem instantly
after reboot. BUT PLEASE BACKUP REGISTRY BEFORE HAND JUST
IN CASE.
