Dialup auto installed by website

Alun Williams

Hello All

I have recently encounter a problem while connected to the internet where a
dialup network connection automatically downloaded itself, disconnected me,
and attempted to dialup itself automatically.

Is there a patch available to prevent this happening without being asked for
my permission?

Thanks in advance

Al

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy and/or Ad-Aware and their corresponding
latest updates. Google will direct you to both programs, and they're free.
Run them often. Sounds like the website you were visiting installed a Dialer
program (malware) on your system. Check your next couple of phone bills
carefully.

Install a firewall. There are several good free software ones out there
(Sygate, Zone Alarm, etc).

Unfortunately it's not really a good idea to click on an "unsubscribe" link.
Most spammers use this as a tool to verify that the email address is active,
and you usually end up with even more spam. As someone else said, Spybot has
an "immunize" feature which, if activated, will block dialers.etc from
automatically downloading onto your system. Just make sure that you update
the program often, and rerun the immunize feature each time you update.
