I'm running Win2k Pro and all of a sudden my AOL dialup
will not go thru all the 7 steps to connect. It gets to
step 4 sometimes 5 and then it gives the message that it
can't finish the connection. The modem is fine, installed
another one just to make sure and I still got the same
thing. Uninstalled and reinstalled the AOL software twice
at different times during the course of troubleshooting
and still the same results.\

I've scanned for viruses, cleaned off the little bit of
ad/malware that was on it to no avail.

If anyone might know what the problem is could you
please pass it on. I can't figure out what the reason
might be at all.

Just a thought, since you've tred everything else, either run the
automatic fixer, or run acsuninstall (use find for it's exact
location) and restart AOL to let it rebuild the dialer settings. I've
seen this work twice recently...
