Dial-Up Connections disappeared

My Dial-Up connections will not appear when I go into Network Connections. The only thing that does appear is a connection for high speed internet. I use a 56k modem and I can connect to the internet thanks to the icon on my desktop. Also, when I am online, an icon should appear in the taskbar stating that I am on but that even does not appear. If I want to disconnect, I would have to restart my PC because there is nothing in the taskbar or in the internet connections folder to let me do so

I have tried a few things without help and now I'm a little frustrated. :
(My operating system is XP)

"rasphone.exe" can help you disconnect until you get things working.

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.
