I can not get Novatel Broadband modem to work. The device manager recognizes
it but I can not setup a dial up connection automatically or manually. Keep
gettng error that modem can't be found.

Vendor software installs correctly but it can not create a dial up
connection either and will not recognize the modem. I have tried both a USB
and a PCMCIA modem.

Broadband modem? Cable or DSL?
You do not connect a broadband modem to a regular telephone line (unless you
have DSL service activated and a filter on your telephone line).
Broadband is always on and does not require dialing.
You should be able to set up your PCMCIA modem using dial up.

Sprint broadband card for laptop. Novatel U720. Device manager recognizes it
as a modem and a query shows a success response but I can't create a
connection for it. It works fine on my XP box but I can't get Vista to work
with it.

Did you download the latest Vista drivers from the sprint site?

I had one of these cards on a trial and it worked fine for me.

Hi Michael:
Yea I have the latest and greatest drivers. I tried Sprint,Toshiba(my
laptop) and even a German made generic broadband software (NWCom). The issue
might be that for some reason I either don't have the rights (tried as
administrator as well) or for some reason can't create a new connection in
the Network control panel. I had a friend try it on their Dell Vista laptop
and it worked fine for them.
I am a bit puzzled, I tried going to DOS and changing the Attributes for
the Windows directory but they were already set to A so I didn't bother
pursuing that path.
