Dial up accelerator with Vista

I have Vista Home Basic on my computer. My dial up connection runs around 1
kb/s. I installed a dial up accelerator from my internet provider. It is
enabled but Vista doesn't seem to allow it to operate. It worked fine with
Windows XP. How can I get the accelerator to work. Are there other ways to
speed up internet browsing with a slow connection?
 
Most of the so called accelerators are little more than snake oil.
If you had one that worked with Windows XP from your ISP, contact
them to verify Windows vista compatibility.
Also verify your settings are set as suggested by your ISP.
