Diacritics and word template mail merge for printing labels

HI,
We use ILLiad (a interlibrary loan software) that uses a Word template for
printing labels. The templates have stayed the same, but whe they upgraded to
Office 2007 diacritics no longer print for us. Does anyone know what could
have happened and any solutions?
Thanks

What is the data source, i.e. the one that Word actually uses? Is it a
text file? And how do the diacritics or accented characters actually
appear when you (a) preview them in Word and (b) print them?

Fairly obvious stuff...
Were you using any fonts in Word that are no longer available on your
system (not sure why such stuff would be removed by the upgrade, though)
Are the templates definitely the same, with the same fonts? (e.g. if
you merge to an output document do you see the same font?

Less obvious...
How is Word connecting to the data source? (It may not be obvious to
you but if you connect manually, what is in the dialog boxes that you
see (if any)?
If the data source is a text file, is it in the same folder as it was
in your old system?
