Thanks Mike. :) FWIW - diabetes-related freeware is always of
special interest to me (I have a diabetic grandchild).

I had type 2 diabetes and when diagnosed several years ago I found
the mendosa site very useful. The facts are solid, the
presentation is not advertizing driven, and the presentation is way
beyond the technical mumbo-jumbo of pretty well all technical
journals.
You will find links to all aspects of the diabetic condition
treated at this site.
It is possible at least with some forms of diabetes to handle the
condition with lifestyle changes which must be permanent.

Type I diabetics (the kind that starts in childhood) always have to take
insulin. Type II can sometimes be controlled by changes in diet and life
style (as you said).

I have been diagnosed as type 2 and it is scary and confusing. David
Mendosa's site has been very helpful and educational for me.

I sure is. The onset of diabetes in my grandchild was terrifying - from
normal to near death in the space of a few hours. Evidently this is the
way it usually happens with children.

I just tripped over a couple of nutrition/health/diabetes related

Hello. I don't use the software below because it doesn't really match the
way I manage my diabetes (Type 2), but I did download it and try it out a
few months back. Seems to be a very straightforward program with no funny
stuff going on in the background, although you do need to register at the
site to download the program. The info required includes Name, Address,
Gender, EMail, Username, Password, Birthdate, and Time Zone. In the months
that I've been a member of the site, I have NEVER received an unsolicited
email from them. This program may be worth investigating for someone looking
for software to help them manage their diabetes.
