DFS question.....

James

Just starting out with DFS.....I setup a Domain DFS (Win2k3).

I'm trying to create a logical structure. One share on server A is
called Common, one share on server B is called Libary. So I've created
DFS links to those two shares. Everything works great.

Now however I want to create a new logical directory called Business
Units. There is a share called Finance on server A and a share called
HR on server B. I want these to be subdirectories of Business Units.

My problem is no Business Units share exists...........do I have to
create some bogus (empty) share on one of our server just so I can
create this logical name in the hiearchy??????

Looking to create this:

domain\dfs root
Common
Library
Business Units
Finance
HR

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi James,

Great question! There's no need to create a bogus share called Business
Units. All you need to do is specify link names as follows:

Business Units\Finance
Business Units\HR
