Device Driver Generating Stop Errors

I recently updated my NVIDIA video driver to version 5.7.6.2 from the NVIDIA website. Supposedly this version has a windows logo, but when I scan my computer on Windows update, it says I need to update my driver. However the driver on Windows update is version 4.x.x.x. I've tried unistalling the driver, reinstalling the driver, rolling back the driver, disabling and reinstalling - Everything. I even reinstalled Windows because it became unstable. However, today I again received the error from winlogon.exe - The exception privileged instruction (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at location 0x76d1117c. A blue screen then appeared with stop error 0x0000008E. Can anyone help?

See if the following helps:

"0x0000008E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"
