Hi, I wonder if you can help?

I have developed a database that is being used at another location. I need
to change some of the Forms and reports. However the person (at the other
location)who is using the database needs to keep it to add data daily. How
can I make changes for them and transfer the changes. I do have an exact
copy of the structure of their database but if I change mine and send it to
them the data will be old.

Helpppp please.
Thanks
T

The solution is to split your database.

since they not split, you can just simply "assume" that their existing
application will become your new back end.

Another possible solution is to have them send you the current mdb, and then
you split it....

Once you split, then you can easily update your clients. Here is a series of
screen shots as to how I now update my remote clients. I have many
clients..some of which I never met in person.

I have a good introduction on splitting here:

So, if you split your application, then you can just send them a new mde
front end, and it will not over write their back end data...

DONT SPLIT

use Access Data Projects.

these workarounds that these babies keep on promoting? Altogether;
it's just too much of a PITA.

Using ADPs in this situation and many other is over kill. One problem
is installing yet another piece of software such as MSDE. And ADPs
have their quirks.

Tony;

you are a WUSS.

one of the reasons I don't like using MDB is because I don't like
setting connection strings in 20 different objects.

sure; Linked Table Manager helps _SOME_
but what about when you need to change the connection string on your
Sql Passthroughs?

ADP is _NEVER_ overkill.

You're a flaming WUSS, Tony.

I'm sorry that you're too scared of MSDE to attach a friggin file... i
can do it in my sleep.
