Determine space between sentences

In Word 2003, Is there a way that i can specify how much space I want to
leave before the start of a new sentence e.g. 40 mm, without using space bar
or tabs?

No, there is no such feature that works automatically.

In the Character Spacing tab of the Format > Font dialog, you can set the
Spacing to "Expanded" by 40 mm, but you would have to do that manually to
the character (period, question mark, etc.) at the end of each sentence.
