Detection of Standby or Hibernate mode

During standby or hibernate operation, is there any way
to detect if it is an automatic (system initiative -
timeout which is configured in power management was
expired) or manual operation (button press by user for
example) and if it is hibernate or standby operation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

No, none that I am aware of. Why do you need to know?

Hi,
We want to disable automatic standby mode and enable
other modes (automatic and manual hibernate, manual
standby are allowed).

Hi,

Tough one, depends on what the BIOS supports. Set the system BIOS with the
automatic functions (set to S4) if it is supported, then set Windows PM to
"never". This should allow the user to invoke a manual standby, and if left
alone, the system BIOS PM settings "should" take over.

I say "should" as this does not always work. BIOS and Win PM settings often
conflict each other, so you may not be able to use both. If this seems to be
the case, you will need to decide which to use, then disable the other.
