Detecting if device conected is WM 5 or 2003

What's the easiest why to detect the version from the desktop ?

I've tried using the RAPI wrapper from opennetcf.org but running into errors
using myrapi.GetDeviceVersion() from
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms837846.aspx on a WM5 device I'm
guessing due to security restrictions or ActiveSync 4.

I can read the registry keys on the device fine any information held there ?

Hi,

Check out this registry setting when you are connected via activeSync :
The information is stored in the registry by activesync e.g.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\
DeviceType

Any information around on the expected values for the 'DeviceVersion' key ?
