detect Outlook message events

Hi -

this is my problem:

I need to execute a process when a specific e-mail message arrives in
Outlook (with a specific sender, subject or maybe some string in the
message text)

For example, I want to execute script.bat each time I receive a
message from the user "xyz"

How can I do that ?

thanks and regards,

Dear Diane,

Is it possible to execute a script client side upon reception of a
message ?
I will try as soon as I can connect to my Exchange server
The version of Outlook is 2003

Thanks and regards,

Nicola

Ok, it worked well with rules
The only problem is that I need to have the client open
Is there any way to do that automatically?
Is it possible to start-up Outlook client in hidden mode?

thanks

Outlook 2003

I don't know of any version of Outlook that has a "hidden mode". In
Windows, one can usually start a program minimized from a shortcut when the
"Run" property of the shortcut is set to "Minimized". Since Outlook 2003
has a "Hide When Minimized" feature, one might think one could use the two
properties to start Outlook so that you can't see it. Alas, Outlok 2003
doesn't obey the "Run miniized" feature of the shortcut. So, the bottom
line is I don't think you can accomplish what you want without some kind of
add-in.
