Detect external hard drive

My XP program isn't detecting the external hard drive. It has been detecting
it, but now it doesn't.

I've shut down, restarted, unplugged, and restored to last point where it
was detecting it.

Uninstalled software for external drive and reinstalled.

Ideas?

Did you try rt clicking on MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>USB Controllers. rt click on each
one and select Uninstall. Restart and let WinXP reload them.

Thanks for the idea, Rich ... I wish it had worked, but
it didn't. All of the USB's are reported working on the
Device Manager. I did uninstall and reinstall.

I've uninstalled the coolmax software also, and upon
reinstall the plug and play detected the new hardware,
but I still don't get a K drive on my "computer" files.

Soooo, any other ideas?
