Details Section Formatting

I have a report with a detail section as follows:

Initials:

ABC
DEF
GHI
JKL

How can I format the data on the report to go across the page horizontally
instead of down the page in single column?

I only want the column setting to apply to the details section of the report.
When I tried changing Column settings, it applied to the entire report. Any
other thoughts?

Uncheck the 'Same as Detail' check box in the File + Page Setup +
Columns dialog and set the column width manually.
The Column widths will then affect just the Group Headler/Footer and
the Detail section.
The Page Header/Footer and Report Header/Footer will not be affected.
