I would like to NOT have the color button behind (around)
my desktop icon captions. I have tried: rt. click on desk
top,
properties, appearance. I can change the color of them but
I would like to NOT have a color at all... Just the
caption against the background.
Is this possible? If so PLEASE tell me how to do this.
Thank you much.

Go to Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance. Check Use drop shadows
for icon labels on the desktop. Also, this will not work if you have any
web content enabled on the Desktop (Control Panel, Display, Desktop,
Customize Desktop, Web tab).

Doug: Thank you for your reply. I tried what you
suggested, and I made sure there were no web contents
enabled on desktop. after clicking Apply, nothing
happened, then upon checking desk top... still the same.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Also (hate to be a pest but...)would you tell me how to
compress (zip) a Photo file from "My Pictures"? Thanks
MUCH.

KayGee,

The method outlined, for getting rid of the color around desktop icon
captions works, for everyone that I know of, and that's a lot of people. :(

To ZIP a file of any type, right click on it and select Send To, Compressed
Folder. A ZIP file will be created with the same name as the original
file.

Doug:
Thanks again, I'm probably doing something wrong. I'll
keep trying. Thanks for the info on compressing a file.
Appreciate all.
