desktop shortcuts missing

I somehow clicked on the wrong button in MS outlook and lost all of my
desktop icons. How can I retrieve them, and place them back on the desktop,
without losing any information?

And I dont want to lose any information in Outlook (or restart)

Thanks for any suggestions!

I doubt that it was anything you did in Outlook that affected the Windows
Desktop in that way.
Right click on your Desktop-> View-> enable: Show Desktop Icons
