desktop problem

I have a small white box with a red"x" in the middle of it sitting on my
desktop, not really sure how it got there. No matter what I try I'm unable to
get rid of it. Double clicking won't open it, right clicking won't give me
the option to delete it and changing my background won't cover it up. Would
appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks

No problem with the monitor, but I was imformed that a user had put a cd
picture disk in the "D" drive and saved one of the pictures to the desktop,
the little box with the "x" in it was what the end result of the operation.
