Desktop, or Icon Question??

The name under my desktop icons are in a black block is
there a way you can make it not have a color there at
all, just the wallpaper behind the desktop icon name, so
there aren't a bunch of black squares all over my screen??

- right-click My Computer
- choose Properties
- go to the Advanced tab
- click to go to the Performance settings
- go to the Visual Effects tab
- mark the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the Desktop" option

If you don't want even the shadows, you'll have to use a utility such
as Activicons or Transparent.
