Having removed some virus stuff (YaHa worm) the way some programs
execute has changed. Installing/Uninstalling SP2 makes no difference.
When starting a program, instead of 'opening' the program it attempts
to 'Run As'. If I right click on the program icon on the desktop, the
menu item 'open' has disappeared leaving 'run as' as the top item. So
everytime a program tries to start, a 'Run As' window opens requiring a
response (choose USER) before the program will run. This problem doesn't
occur on MS Office programs but pretty much everything else.
MS site tells you how to use the 'Run As' feature but not how to
prevent it. I assume a missing feature is the problem with 'Run As'
simply being an alternative process. I have run SFC with no effect.
It also affects programs that start at boot up.
Any ideas?
