I am running XP Home edition on a 1.6 GHz Intel based machine with 512
Meg. The integrated video is an SIS 661FX_M661FX_M661MX with 32 Megs of
memory. When I try to increase video resolution above 1024x768, the
desktop area exceeds the size of the window area and mouse scrolling is
enabled. This is undesirable in some situations. Is there any way to
control the virtual desktop size in XP with regard to screen
resolution?

I have researched all of the usual resources, google more search terms
than I care to remember and found very little information on the
subject. Can anyone here help?

Thanks
Tal

Visit the manufacturer's site to download and install the latest driver.

Thanks S.,

I have updated everything according to the motherboard's website (and
the chipset website). I flashed the BIOS and updated the vBIOS. The
latest video driver is loaded. The only difference is that Windows now
recognizes my PnP monitor.

Any other suggestions? I still think it is an XP issue...

Thanks again,
Tal

It's a video driver issue. Your video card cannot physically support beyond
1024X768. Some drivers will just not work beyond their limits. Some, like
yours, will display the highest physical ersolution they can, and set the
rest to auto-scroll.
