desktop larger and also background pic

my background desktop pic is massive and also all the new pages that i open.
i have reduced the size of the icons but struggling to do the desktop etc.
please help
 
Right click on a blank space on the your desktop.
Click on personalize and then display setting.
Choose a high resolution.
 
Right click on the Desktop, choose Personalization, click Desktop Background,
choose placement at the bottom of the window
