Desktop.ini in webs

Hello;

How/why does the file desktop.ini appear in the root
folder of my web and several subwebs?

Dave,

That file tells Windows that the directory is a FrontPage web directory and
changes the folder icon. It may tell Windows some other information, but
from looking at the file, I'm not sure what.

I'm fairly certain that it will always get recreated even if you remove it,
so just ignore it.
