Desktop.ini files

I have 2 desktop icons with same name, desktop.ini. Can they be hidden
without affecting other desktop icons? Can they be merged? Can they be
deleted? Can they be move somewhere else?

Control Panel (Classic view) > Folder Options >View tab > check "Do not show
hidden files and folders" and check "Hid protected operating system files
(Recommended).
 
I prefer NOT to hide ALL system folders. Is there another way to be more
selective?
