Most of my desktop icons, word files, IE7/Mail have this security icon on
their right lower corner. I associated that with TrendMicro AV (vista beta
version) but uninstall of that software, manual registry cleaning also did
not solve it. Does anyone know what is going on?

Sorry about the externally linked image. But there is no easy way to explain
this.

The little "shield" is indicative of that particular program's need for
administrative privileges to run properly and has nothing to do with your
previously installed AV solution.

I have similar issues with an application I installed. It seemed to randomly
select which of my .EXE to put a shield on or not. How do I turn off the
shield? Is there something I can set on install to prevent this from
happening? Under properties, require admim rights is not checked.
