Desktop Icons Enlarged using Fn+F8

G

Guest

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop and am new to vista & finding way round!

Can change Icon sizes from Desktop and using Ctrl and mouse wheel.

However!! wanted to use an external monitor and selected Fn+F8. to my
surprise Icon became Jumbo size and cannot be re-set. I can reduce but ten
come back to Jumbo size.

I can re-set by shutting PC down re-boot and then select classic Icon and
return to normal. Other odd thing when I have the problem Word 2003 displays
500% zoom and again can be reduced but automatically returns to full 500%
Zoom.

Can anyone help?

I did some more research on my own and
found the problem. If you installed IntelliType pro 6.1 uninstall
it. There is a glitch that causes windows to think you are holdin
down the ctrl key after you press FN+F8 causing your computer to tak
that command as a zoom command. The glitch is triggerd by FN+F8.
contacted microsoft and spent hours convincing them that it was no
my laptop that was messed up but there software. I am awaiting a cal
from a Head Tech. The call should be recieved by Friday. I will advis
what to do about this as soon as I hear from Microsoft

Had same exact problem on Dell XPS 1210 laptop. Spent hours thinking
it was a hardware or driver issue.

Uninstall of Intellitype Pro fixed it. Thanks very much.

Thank you also, for the confirmation.

Although it would be nice to know if the program
can be re-installed in Vista or needs update.

Right click on your desktop, and click on Veiw, It should then come up with Large Icons, Medium Icons and Classic Icons. Click Medium Icons.

Tadaah :)

Dear Migi,
When you reply to a post in

http://forums.techarena.in
or
http://www.eggheadcafe.com
Or Other Website.

It shows up as a broken thread on a Microsoft Public newsgroup
and usually it's old outdated.

These sites.
http://www.eggheadcafe.com
http://forums.techarena.in/
Copies Posts from Microsoft Break/Fix SBS newsgroup.

So Any responding or posting means that 99% of the world will not know what
you are responding to.

(Since it will be a broken thread on the original source.)

In your current post we may have no reference to what you are talking about.
and or it may be too old to even give use proper respect.

If you avoid Techarena.in Or eggheadcafe.com Forum and post directly to the
Microsoft
newsgroup you will benefit from threads not getting broken.
And a lot of misunderstanding.

You can either use a NNTP News Reader (Example Outlook Express)
And set it up with:
NewsServer: msnews.microsoft.com
Server does not require login
Please "MUNG" your email address
and change your name.

Please post with a NEW Descriptive Topic of what the issue is
(Other than HELP or Urgent)
All the posts here are urgent.

In addition do not reference Other posts and keep with this thread until you
have it solved.
or there are no more replies. (Do not start a new thread every question on
the same topic)

If you wish a "WEB" Based interface with NO Ad's
you can go directly to this forum with.
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?
It has the feature to notify you on a reply also.

To Search for issues in the past the easiest way is to Google them.
http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?hl=en&sel=usenet=microsoft.public.windows
This has way more information than that website will ever have and help you
to stay connected.

I hope you find this information helpful.
Thanks
Russ
