Desktop icons always shaded

Hi

My desktop icons are always shaded with my Windows' desktop color... If I
put a wallpaper on my desktop, each icon gets his own shading according to
the background color selected in the Display Properties! It seems like the
icons are always selected...

Please how can I repair this problem? I'm not putting any wallpapers anymore
cuz it looks ugly with all these shaded icons!

Thanks in advance.

right click an empty place of your desktop, select arrenge icons by, and
another window will popup next, uncheck lock Web items on desktop

Four things are required for transparent icon backgrounds:

1.Control Panel-System-Advanced-Performance Settings.
Check "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" on the Visual
Effects tab.

2.Right-click on Desktop - "Arrange Icons by" and ensure Lock Web
items is cleared.

3.Transparency will not work if you have web content on your desktop,
Control Panel - Display Properties - Desktop tab - Customize Desktop -
Web tab. Clear all check boxes.

4. Ensure the Wallpaper is an image file not HTML.

See:
Desktop icons and icon labels may not display background transparency
or the drop shadow effect in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP

OMG Alan thank you very much... my problem was number 3! I cleared all the
check boxes from the Web tab and everything returned to normal...

Regarding to number 2, the same solution LFR advised, the Web items weren't
locked from the first place...

Thanks again,
Loui.
