Desktop Icon locking

After runnng certain game programmes such as Chamionship Manager 2008 and
Tiger Woods PGA Tour )* when exiting my desktop Icons regroup to the left. Is
there any way to lock the Desktop Icons?
 
might try
Right click on blank section of desktop.
Select View and uncheck the auto arrange and align to grid options.
