desktop hangs

sometimes when i log off my desktop the icons disappear but
the wallpaper will hang ,with the saving your settings
message for about 30seconds. Normally the log off takes 3
seconds but somthing causes this 30 sec. delay and it will
stay like that till i do a restart. Then it;s fine till
whatever causes this to happen ,happens again . Any ideas
anyone? Ken

Check the Event Logs for USERENV as Source entries. Often ID=1000
If present, it is known and fairly common problem. Say your results,
OS and SP for a start.
