When I choose a photo to use as my wallpaper and choose either "tile" or
"center" as in the display options, instead of doing the appropriate thing,
it enlarges my photo so that only a small part of it appears as the
background. For example, if I choose a photo with 3 faces in it, and choose
either of the above commands and hit OK, my wallpaper will be only a small
portion of the chosen photo (like one half of one face). It basically
"crops" the photo inappropriately. It didn't used to do this. How do I fix
it???

Is it because your background photo much higher res than your screen i.e.
screen is 1024x768 and the photo is 2048x1536 for example?

Use 'Stretch' instead of 'Center' or 'Tile'.

'Center' and 'Tile' are working correctly on your system, they just don't do
what you want. Your images are larger than the display, so only a portion
are visible. 'Center' will use the central portion of the image, 'Tile'
will use the upper left corner of the image.

'Stretch' will fit the entire image to the screen, but proportions will not
be maintained if the image height to width ratio is not the same as your
display.

If the height to width ratio of the original image don't match the display
ratio, crop the image to match, then save the cropped results.
