I just purchased a new pc with Windows XP Professional. I setup a printer
for my HP Deskjet 720c. It will print fine, but it no longer offers the US
Index Card 3x5 page size. I have several reports in Access that need to
print to this size to this specific printer. I have tried the 712 and 722
print drivers without any success.

Is there a way or a driver that will bring back the US Index Card 3x5 for
Windows XP and my Deskjet 720c? HP has not been any help.

Thanks,

Sean M. Severson

This is a driver issue and drivers are the responsibility of the device
manufacturer. Please visit the HP website, www.hp.com and check for the
latest XP drivers for your printer.

Those drivers are also supplied by the manufacturer but you are correct,
those are usually not as robust as those directly from the manufacturer.

I had a 722C when I first moved to XP and soon learned that HP offers no
drivers for it (XP uses its own generic one and, as you see, some
functionality is lost).

I have read that the Win2000 driver will work, but did not actually try it.
You might give it a shot.

There is essentially a generic driver for all older Deskjets supplied in
XP. It works perfectly well, but does not provide the individual Bells
and Whistles that HP drivers for older systems had. And does not
support the 3x5 card. HP (whose responsibility it would be) has shown
no interest whatever in producing any fancier driver for what it sees as
obsolete printers
