I currently have a problem with a word document, i have added some check boxes to make use of my document faster. Everytime I open the document whether its a template or not it open in desing mode, please can someone tell me how to stop this so it opens normally and the check boxes can be checked etc.

It's the lack of punctuation that's causing the problem.

Hi Ken,

It seems Jezebel is feeling out of sorts today. :)

Your problem is that you have Word's macro security level set to High. You
must have used the check boxes from the Control Toolbox toolbar, which Word
considers to be in the same threat class as macros, so it's disabled them
and put you into Design Mode.

Go to Tools > Macro > Security and set the level to Medium. Each time you
open the document, you'll need to click the Enable Macros button in the
warning dialog, but then the document will not be in Design Mode.

Two options:

1) Change your macro security from High to Medium. Word interprets ActiveX
controls as event macro containers and, if macro security is set to High,
automatically opens the doc in design mode. Under Medium, you are prompted
to Enable or Disable macros.

2) Don't use the ActiveX controls from the Control Toolbox. Use the
checkbox formfields from the Forms toolbar. Look up "online form" in Word
help for additional info.

cjd
