When opening up programmes such as Recycle Bin, My Document and Control
Panel, I am being prevented by Data Execution Prevention. The only
button is Close Window and on closing, error reports are compiled to be
sent to microsoft. I then have to use task manager to end task as my
computer freezes. I have tried Start / Run / sysdm.cpl as suggested at
microsoft.com, but this only gives the option to choose which
programmes or systems to exclude. Is there a way to turn this off?
Should it be turned off? DEP has not been knowingly turned on. Any
help would be greatly appreciated

Those things aren't programs. They are just shortcuts to folders on your
computer.

This sounds like malware of some kind. And it isn't DEP that is doing the
evil deed; instead DEP found the problem.

2 error reports come up to be sent to microsoft. 1 for the
application, and then 1 for Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger, which has
not intentionally been downloaded onto the machine, could this be the
problem?

What do you suggest to do?
