demote sec dc after pri dc rename

hej Folks: here's a tricky one. How can we regain control
of an orphaned DC. This is the deal. We had
s1.domain.local and s2.domain.local. We rebuilt S1, a
win2003 dc, and now S2 (win2000) cannot find S1 from
the .local domain to demote itself to a member server. Is
there a tool to help us here?

If you are trying to demote this last server I believe you could do a
dcpromo /force
