Well, given the repeated reports that AdAware (updated) removes it, I'm
hopeful that someone will post here a report on just what AdAware finds so
that we can get a handle on this thing. It's running so fast that I'm more
afraid that we've got a Delphi-written worm of some sort on our hands. I
just don't believe that we've suddenly gotten 40+ people that just happened
to have not removed some Trialware.

Having EXACT same problem as everyone in this thread.
Started about 8 hours ago. Haven't downloaded or
installed anything in over a week - so don't know what
the cause is. Updated Antivirus (NORTON) and did a full
scan. It found nothing. I also ran SPYBOT - twice.
But the Delphi trial version error message still pops up
whenever I try to use IE or windows Explorer.

"screensaver" Trojan?

From other threads it would appear to be a spyware - at least someone
says it got cleared by the latest AdAware definitions (they had a new
set on Nov 22). Rather incompetently implemented if he did not realise
he was using a trial version of Delphi to implement it

That's not very useful. The info there is obvious from the message. The question is what file caused it.

Here's my train of thought:

Delphi can be used to write screensavers (cf.
http://www.digitalcoding.com/programming/delphi/tutorial/screensaver1.htm).

Many Trojans are disguised with a screensaver extension (cf.
http://www.google.com/ie?q=screensaver+++trojan+site:symantec.com&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1)
