Dell Dimesion XPS T450

Does this machine use the standard PC100 SDRAM? The specification of memory
module, I am thinking of buying says 32x8 (I do not understand this). The
same amount of memory but 16x8 is more expensive.

Does anybody have experience upgrading this machine to 256MB of memory using
standard SDRAM PC100 32x8?

The price for the 256MB from Dell is £80. I can get SDRAM 256MB PC100 for
£40.

Any pointers welcome, I searched the web but did not find anything useful.

Thank you...

It refers to the chips used on the modules. A 32M x 8 bit chip is 256Mbits; a
16M x 8 bit chip is 128Mbits. One of the 256MB modules has eight 32Mx8 chips;
the other has sixteen 16Mx8 chips. Your motherboard only supports chip
densities up to 128Mbits. The module with 256Mbit chips is not supported by
your board. You will need the 256MB module with sixteen 16Mx8 chips.

Thank you very much for your explanation, it made it clear. Pity that lower
density chips are more expensive :-(...

Or cheaper depending on how you look at it (there are twice as
many chips).
