Dell boot problems, blinking cursor

I have a new DELL Dimension 3000 running Windows XP. I started having
a problem a few weeks back where when I start my system, it will show
the DELL.COM screen, but then goes to a blank screen that has a
blinking cursor in the top left of the screen. Its stuck from there.
I thought the problem was a CD being in the puter at the time.
Removing the disk and restarted worked 3 different times. But, today
it did it with nothing in there. I kept restarting it and it finally
booted. Any idea what the problem may be???

If it's new - just one option, call Dell Support and either demand a
replacement or a refund. Don't let front-line support step you thru
hours of trouble shooting or recovery. Just tell them that this kind
of issue on a new computer isn't acceptable. The problem is most
all the major OEMs seem to be shipping "Marginal" products over
the past couple of months. I've personally dealt with 3 almost new
Dell (Notebooks) that were for the most part DOA.
