Dell 966 AIO with Vista

Tom Ponta

I recently replaced my old Dell Dimension desktop running XP with a Dell
Inspirion running Vista Home Premium. More RAM, Dual Core processor, bigger
HDD, etc. The problem I'm having is with my Dell 966 AIO printer.

The printer still prints OK, and I can use the scan function with 3rd party
software, but the All-in-One Control Center absolutely refuses to function.
Once it loads, I get "Not Responding" no matter what I try to do. Several
contacts with Dell, including 2 remote assist sessions have solved nothing.

Since the printer unit obviously works OK, as well as the PC, it seems the
problem must be with the AIO software. I've downloaded the latest and
greatest from the Dell sit but still no joy.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanx:

Lexmark makes the printers and software for Dell. Until Lexmark gets their
Vista act together, AIOC won't work. They don't have much incentive to do
that since Vista's Fax and Scan does most of the same functions. The only
thing I miss with Vista is being able to use the printer's fax capability
rather
than having to have a fax modem installed in the computer.
