Dell 2007FPW Monitor driver can't be installed

Hi, Im having this issue with installing the monitor driver. The monitor is
a 20" new Dell widescreen monitor model 2007fpw, but for some reason, the
settings under my display settings can detect the model of the monitor but
would encounter an error everytime I try to update or install the driver.
It doesn't say what kind of error, though. Im using dual monitor right now
and this Dell monitor is plugged into the DVI interface but is acting as the
main monitor. As a result, it can only display up to 1280x1024 resolution.
Anyone has any ideas? Maybe there isn't the right driver for Vista yet?

Thanks in advance!

Vista x86 or x64? I can't find a 2007fpw on the Dell site. There is a
2005fpw and a 3007fpw. Neither lists a Vista driver.

It is Vista x86!

If the XP driver doesn't work and you can't identify a more generic Vista
beta driver that will work then there is not anything you can do.

Ok, thanks! I guess I'll just have to wait...

MG,

I had the same problems with the older 2005FPW. For some really weird reason
1680x1050 is NOT a choice for resolution.

I have a ATI x600 w/256MB RAM.

Here's how I fixed it: Power Strip http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm

I had to create a custom resolution for 1680x1050. You will have to play
around a bit....as I cannot remember the exact steps I took.

I am now able to select 1680x1050 as a choice on the Vista Display Settings.

The PowerStrip utility will want to run at start-up, but I've found that you
can kill it after booting. I have not removed it....as things are working
good now.

Good luck!

Ken
