deleting programs

When I try to get rid of old games on vista, they wont go, I get wessage
installshield has stopped working. I cannot reinstall the program for the
same reason. The programs are partially deleted, and are stuck that way.
Sometimes other programs are deleted ok. How can I resolve this problem
