Windows98Se clean install
IE6 installed over IE5.5
-------------------------------
If I delete a large folder full of subfolders and files on my hard drive
then the following occurs.
The progress box pops up, the files are deleted promptly and the box goes
again. However the desktop is locked up for a further 1-3 minutes. There is
no drive activity at this time.
Once this has happened then until such time as the PC is restarted all
accesses like move/copy/delete will take an additional 1-3 minutes before
they return control. Even creating a new empty folder gives you time to make
a cup of tea while you are waiting.
Scandisk reports no problem with the drive itself (this happens on either
one) and restarting the PC clears the problem until a new large 'delete
files' occurs.
If having restarted the PC you do 'repair IE6' then it does so promptly and
smoothly - reporting no errors. If however you cause the bug to occur and
then do repair IE it locks up and Ctrl-Alt-Del shows this.

Not sure why it's even using grpconv since I thought that was leftover from
windows 3.1 or win95. This was a clean install of Windows 98se.
Finally while uninstalling IE6 (back to IE5.5) cures the problem completely,
reinstalling IE6 brings it back again. It's always possible to reproduce the
problem.
I've about given up on IE6, but maybe this is a problem everyone knows about
but me. Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.
