Deleting messages

How do I delete several messages at a time as opposed to
tedious one by one from my deleted folder but not all of
them?
 
Hold down the control key (for individual messages) or shift key (for a
range of messages) while selecting the messages you want to delete.

Or sort by date & delete all but the past X days. You shouldn't keep
anything you want to retain in deleted items....it is not meant to store
stuff that isn't trash.
