deleting messages in delited items folder

When I try to delete messages in the deleted items folder I get a message of
unknown error has occurred. The original message also can't be displayed.

When I try to delete messages in the deleted items folder I get a message

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
