deleting files

I have two hard drives: C and F. F stores all my old data from "before the
crash". I have transferred much of my old files on F drive to the same
folder name in the new C drive. Now, when I try to delte the entire folder
off the F drive, I find something puzzling: If I delete a folder off the F
drive, it disappears off the C drive, too! If I <edit/undo the delete>, the
folder comes back in both places (C and F). Why can't I delete the folder
off the F drive and have it remain on C drive?

It sounds like you just made shortcuts instead of copying the files. Try
right-clicking the files and then whilst holding down the right mouse
button, drag them to where you want them. When you release the mouse
button, you'll get a menu. Choose "Copy". After all your files are in
place, you can go to the F: drive and delete them.
