Deleting event log message file?

My apologies in advance because this topic has probably been beaten to
death...but I was wondering if there is a way to delete the message
file WITHOUT REBOOTING that my application uses for logging messages to
the Event Log?

On my Windows Professional machine, I cannot Start or Stop the Event
Log service once the machine is up and running. Not sure if it is
because of the security that my company has in place or what. I was
thinking that perhaps this was one way of doing it.

Thanks in advance.

You can go in the Event Viewer and "Clear" the events. That's if you
have necessary permissions. The brass above might not like you clearing
all the events, especially if they have to troubleshoot something on
your workstation.

hmmm....When I tried to delete the dll, the Event Viewer was open. I
closed the Event Viewer and tried to delete the dll.....and it worked!!

....though I could have sworn, it didn't previously...oh well!
