Deleting Custom Folder Backgrounds in XP

I am working on a machine that has only had XP home on it. Here's my
problem. It's been driving me and 2 people crazy for 2 hours--
(including a friend who is a Certified Microsoft Tech).

- Some time ago, there was an option to customize the backgound of "My
Documents" folder. So I did. I added a nice tropical background.
- While doing some extensive backup and cleanup today, I realized
reading the file names was difficult and that this feature was
something I could do without.
- I have tried everything to get rid of that folder background and
absolutely nothing works, the customize folder option has disappeared
forever. I can't even customize a new folder if I wanted to.
- NOTE: I can right click on the icon for the folder in explorer and
"change" the image--but that is NOT what I want to do. I want to
REMOVE the image from the folder. I want file names against that nice
blank background.
- Is this possible? If so how? I've spent an hour reading posts
here, but none of them seem to solve the problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Did you happen to use IESHWIZ.exe?

If you did it modified the desktop.ini in %userprofile%\My Documents and may
have created a *.htt (HyperText Template) file in %userprofile%\My
Documents.

Hi Ken,

Locate the file desktop.ini in the folder in question (may need to show
hidden files and folders). Open it using Notepad.

Locate the reference:
IconArea_Image=Folder Settings\Background.jpg where "Background.jpg" is
the name of your graphic. Delete the line and save the file. The
graphic should be removed.

You also have a folder named "Folder Settings". Removing that will
remove any custom fonts, colors back to the defaults. Your custom
graphic is also stored in that folder.
